Thank You to Alleviating Poverty Through Entrepreneurship

Aunt Flow must take a moment to thank everyone who made The Alleviating Poverty Through Entrepreneurship Summit possible. From the countless Ohio State student volenteers to the vast conglomerate of audience members from all over the United States, the Summit was truly a remarkable experience.

It was an honor to share the stage with notable social entrepreneurs like Buddy Teaster, President and CEO of Souls4Souls and Laura Weiss, founder of GoBox. Hearing from other social enterprises that are making an impact in the Columbus community like the OSU Starr House was humbling. I had the opportunity to share a few words with the speakers prior to presenting and the conversations were humbling and inspiring. These entrepreneurs encouraged me to flow forward, even when life tries to “cramp” my style. (Sorry, bad period joke.) Each entrepreneur agreed that the quantifiable and emotional impact that a social enterprise can make is worth the critical struggles of launching.

From listening to other passionate individuals, I personally felt a rush of excitement to continue forward with Aunt Flow. After attending this summit and being surrounded by others that are committed to making an impact, I felt rejuvenated and ready to take the next step.

When it came time to present on behalf of Aunt Flow during the business competition portion, I was

excited to share my project and passion. Never did I think that Aunt Flow would evoke such positive feedback. Never did I fathom that Aunt Flow would be awarded first place by the judges and receive the crowd favorite vote. On February 13, 2016, Aunt Flow received our first funds to move forward. This initial money will help us successfully launch our crowdfunding campaign within the next two months.

Thank you to APTE: the volunteers, the speakers, and the audience for supporting Aunt Flow.

Stay tuned on how YOU can be the first to make an impact through supporting our crowd funding campaign. Make sure to sign up for our email list on our home page.
